Alivia is a typical first child. She loves to be in charge and be the center of conversation. She is a rule follower. She will refuse a cookie if she didn't finish every bite of her dinner. She has even admitted to doing things she didn't do so that I will know the "truth." (She still doesn't quite understand the concept of the word truth). She is really interested in time right now. Everyday she asks me what day it is, what number today is on the calendar, and what time it is. I'm not really sure why that's important to her. She has become an easy child (after 3 years of lots of tantrums) and is almost always obedient. She loves to help me, especially in the kitchen and she does a good job. She insists she is a grown up and will not be told otherwise. She loves to dance, and she has since she first could. She can hear a rhythm and move right along with it. She loves playing with her friends, and she is not shy at all. She is learning to read, and will write if she's in the mood. She is also working on basic addition. She is a sweet girl and we are so happy to have her in our family. I am still trying to figure out if she is a "words of affirmation" or "gifts" child. More on that later.
Kate is very opposite of her sister. She is our comedian and loves to make people laugh at her. She is a mischievous little spirit and likes to do things her way. She likes to have certain doors closed all the time, and if there's a cabinet left open she will come close it from a mile away. If I leave the fridge or dishwasher open for a second she comes and closes it. She thinks it is her responsibility to open & close the fence for everyone when we leave and come home. She doesn't listen when she is told no sometimes and will wait for you to not notice her before doing it again. Every night we tell her to stay in her bed, and every night she is into something. this morning, for example, she was playing in our closet at 3 am. It looked like she was playing dress up, but I was half asleep when I sent her to bed. Kate is shy around strangers and it takes her a little while to warm up to people. She loves to dress up in dresses and she also loves to get dirty and make a mess. She likes to be independent and do anything she can do herself. She is currently refusing to potty train (hopefully that will turn around fast) and she loves to go to church. She loves all things music. She can hear music and repeat it, not the right words, but she will sing on key. The number of songs that she knows, for being 2, amazes me. She knows all of her letters, and numbers, and can count to 20. We are now working on letter sounds. She is definitely a physical touch child. I get random hugs from her throughout the day when she needs a little love. We love this little fireball and our lives wouldn't be as fun without her.
Our Carter boy is a sweet little baby. He is a typical busy boy. He loves dirt, and rocks, and being outside. He gets around the house pretty fast and follows me everywhere. He will play on the floor by himself for a while as long as he doesn't see me. He loves to eat, and loves to feed himself (even if it isn't food). He loves to wrestle with daddy and cuddle with mommy. He loves to play with his sisters and he always smiles at them. He now sits up pretty good, but he still doesn't crawl on his knees. He prefers to use his arms and one foot to get around. It's really cute. He is loud and makes noise anyway he can. He gives kisses and snuggles and his big smile lights up the room. He only has 2 little bottom teeth and they are so cute (and sharp). I am looking forward to seeing him grow up and take on the world. I hope he stays just as sweet and fun. He is definitely loved and we love having him in our family and watching him grow up.
